I knew Sister when she was in charge of the St. Rose High, Chelsea Alumni Association and she was running alumni reunions for us. She did it with her usual style and brio.

Sister was dear to us for her magnanimity, willingness to listen and respond to help anyone, and her ability to cut through bureaucratic redtape to get what she and others needed, but her quick wit and sparkling blue eyes will be most missed by all of us.

So it did not surprise me at all that on a visit to Mass General Hospital Boston that the priests who had been at St. Rose Church and a sacristan and I laughed and joked with her. One of the priests used his iPhone to play Irish music, and how she loved that! One of her doctors commented favorably on all the laughter and music.

And it did not surprise me when the same doctor came to check up on her one evening a few days later to check up on her, and ended up staying most of the night playing Irish music.

When I asked Sister if I could do anything for her, would she like anything (and she had been NPO for a few days) she replied, "Well, I'm going, so please get me a coffee to go." Her doctor, the priests, sacristan and I and Sister laughed over that one. The doctor agreed that this was appropriate.

We shall miss her so much for all that she was to us. As my brother would say, "She was worth the price of admission."

Ego dormio sed vigilat cor meum. I sleep but my heart but my heart watches.

I got to meet Sister Agnes Claire at the funeral for my grandmother. We had an immediate connection and a wonderful friendship was born. When my mother got sick she always sent a card with well wishes and special prayer. Her weekly phone calls were something I looked forward to and even if they were quick her genuine care and concern was felt. My heart is heavy with the loss but I know there were plenty of people eagerly awaiting her arrival. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her and I'm sure she will be watching over all from heaven.

My Dear Sister Agnes...you were our Angel here on earth...and now our Angel in Heaven...my family and I were so blessed to have met you. We will forever hold you close in prayer and in our hearts. What a Gift from God you were to all of us. May peace be with all of your family...with much respect and our deepest sympathies.
