Maria De Jesus Chavez Reyna, conocida por su familia y amigos cercanos como Jesusita, de 95 años, de Chelsea, MA, falleció el domingo por la mañana, Noviembre 29, 2020 en su residencia.
Nació el 29 de Octubre de 1925, en San Pedro Sula (La Lima), Honduras, hija del difunto Constantino Chávez y Juana Reyna.
María fue precedida en la muerte por sus dos hijos, Héctor Mendoza y Miguel Ángel Pérez Chávez; una hija, Tula Mendoza; una hermana, María Alba Chávez, y cinco hermanos; José María Contreras Reyna, Miguel Chávez, Lisandro Chávez, Manuel Antonio Chávez y Carlos Alberto Chávez.
Fue miembra de la Iglesia Santa Rosa de Lima y ama de casa. Le gustaba la música, leer y pasar tiempo con sus hijos, nietos, bisnietos y amigos.
A María le sobreviven un hijo, Julio Mendoza de Chelsea, MA; cinco hijas, Emelda Mendoza de Lynn, MA, Juana Herlinda Escobar de Nueva York, Maria Antonia Gonzalez de Nueva York, Rosario Chavez Perez de Honduras y, Maria Ernestina Perez de Chelsea MA; dieciséis nietos; treinta y tres bisnietos; una hermana, Maria Aurora Chavez, de Nueva York y, dos hermanos, Roberto Elias Chavez de Chelsea, También deja a muchos otros miembros de la familia y amigos que la extrañarán profundamente.

Maria De Jesus Chavez Reyna, known by her family and close friends as Jesusita, age 95, of Chelsea, MA, passed away Sunday morning, November 29, 2020 at her residence.
She was born October 29, 1925, in San Pedro Sula (La Lima), Honduras, daughter of the late Constantino Chavez and Juana Reyna.
Maria was preceded in death by her two sons, Hector Mendoza and Miguel Angel Perez Chavez; one daughter, Tula Mendoza; one sister, Maria Alba Chavez, and five brothers; Jose Maria Contreras Reyna, Miguel Chavez, Lisandro Chavez, Manuel Antonio Chavez and Carlos Alberto Chavez.
She was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church and, a homemaker. She enjoyed music, reading and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.
Maria is survived by one son, Julio Mendoza of Chelsea, MA; five daughters, Emelda Mendoza of Lynn, MA, Juana Herlinda Escobar of New York, Maria Antonia Gonzalez of New York, Rosario Chavez Perez of Honduras and, Maria Ernestina Perez of Chelsea MA; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; one sister, Maria Aurora Chavez, of New York and, two brothers, Roberto Elias Chavez of Chelsea, MA and Constantino Chavez, of New York. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Smith Funeral Home, Chelsea, MA.
Funeral service will be held at 10am, December 4, 2020, at Saint Rose of Lima Church, Chelsea, MA. Those attending are asked to meet directly at Church, not at the Funeral Home and park in the lot behind the Church Rectory. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA. Maria’s family will serve as pallbearers.

In accordance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as well as the CDC and the local Board of Health, Covid-19 Pandemic precautions will be in place. Those attending are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and are asked to enter the Funeral Home, pay their respects and exit the Funeral Home so other guests may enter. Contact tracing and temperature checking will take place. Those attending may pre-register under the Services heading.
