Brenda Massey Obituary

On Sunday, August 1, 2021 our beloved Brenda Ann Massey (nee: Mahon) passed away at her residence at 5 Admirals Way, in Chelsea, Massachusetts at the age of 81 years. Born in Chelsea on June 30, 1940, she lived in the West End of Boston in her early years and returned to Chelsea in her early teens and remained a resident for the rest of her life. As an adventurous child, she tried her hand at organizing producing and directing plays for the neighborhood children to perform for their parents. She succeeded in her efforts many times. As her next challenge, she learned to play the piano. Her competitive side lead her to master the card games whist and poker. Later in life Brenda worked at Wilmington Lighting and American Optical for many years and finally worked at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, from which she retired. She was blessed with an adventurous spirit, a lively personality, and a big heart. These attributes contributed to her having many friends and to her being an integral part of the family that loved her so dearly. She liked to travel and visited California, Nassau and the Bahamas, and more. Community service was not a stranger to her, in her youth and later years she continued to give of herself. When the need arose, she gave up the quiet life of retirement to welcome her great-granddaughters into her home and became their primary caregiver for many years, a heroic gesture. For this act alone, she earned her place in heaven.

Brenda leaves behind her loving children: Kevin Mahon, Keith Mahon, Valerie Massey and her beloved grandchildren: April Spinney, Christopher Hopkins, Keith Mahon Jr., George Kane, , Jessica Stephens, Trina Ford, Kristen Mahon-Rodriguez, Kerri Ann Mahon, Kayla Mahon, Kaitlyn Mahon, Kevin Mahon Jr., Brandon Bones, and Monique Williams and Cassie Mahon. She was blessed with sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Deceased, Mother, Eleanor Mahon, Father, Walter Mahon, Son, George Mahon, Granddaughter, Chandra Kane.

She will be sorely missed by her devoted siblings: Marsha Hopkins of Los Angeles, California, Ernest (Buddy) Mahon of Chelsea, Mass, Wayne Mahon of Danvers, Mass, and Denise Mahon-Bass of Los Angeles, California. She has five valued nieces and seven nephews too numerous to mention by name.

We will continue to celebrate her life.
