FIGUEROA, Mercedes- Of Saugus, formerly of Chelsea and Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, May 21st. Beloved wife of Carmelo Aponte of Saugus. Devoted mother of Daniel Vega and his wife Marlene of Saugus, Wendel Vega of Chicago, IL, Melvin Vega and his wife Lily of Chicago, IL, Luis Aponte of Puerto Rico, Madeline Burgos and her husband Jesus of FL, Felicita Aponte of Somerville and the late Herbert Vega. Sister of Feliciano Ortiz of FL, Virginia Figueroa, Anthony Figueroa, Wanda Figueroa, Lidia Figueroa, Roberta Figueroa all of Puerto Rico and the Gloria Ortiz and Luis Angel Figueroa. Also loving survived by 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Friday, May 25th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Rose Church, 600 Broadway, Chelsea at 10 o'clock. Committal Services will be private.
