BUCKLEY, Sr. Agnes C., Sisters of Providence- of Chelsea, September 23rd. Devoted daughter of the late James C. and Agnes G. (Enos) Buckley. Beloved sister of James Buckley and his wife Eleanor of Wilmington, Catherine Musicof and her husband Sol of Stoneham and the late Paul Buckley and his surviving wife Donna of Revere. Also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews as well as the a��a��Sisters of Providence family. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Friday September 29th at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 670 Washington Ave., Revere at 9 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Services will conclude with interment in the Sisters' of Providence grave site at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Sisters a��of Providence, St. Mary of the Woods, 1 Sisters of Providence, St. Mary of the Woods, Indiana, 47876.

Born in Malden 80 years ago, Sister Agnes' early years were in Chelsea where she attended St. Rose School. She entered the Sisters
a��a�� of Providence in February of 1956 and took her vows in 1958. A graduate of St. Mary of the Woods College with a bachelors in Education, she continued her studies at Salem State. Her early years in teaching were spent in Maryland at Hallethorpe followed by 6 years at The Chevrus School in Malden. In the mid 70's, she returned home to Chelsea and began her assignment at St. Rose elementary school, teaching grades 1 through 8. In 2004, she finished her teaching career with the 5th grade class and as administrator of the St. Rose Alumni Association. Sister continued to minister to St. Rose working in the office of St. Rose Rectory until the convent closed and moved to Revere. In 1989, over 28 years ago, Sister Agnes underwent a Heart Transplant at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a first for it being the 1st woman to receive a heart transplant. To this day she in the longest living transplant survivor. In February of this year she celebrated 62 years to her calling.
